The signing ceremony of the fifth addendum to the contract, which began in 2003, was attended by the Secretary for Economic Development and Tourism, Ruy Irigaray; the President of Toyota do Brasil, Rafael Chang, and the Mayor of Guaiba, José Sperotto. “We are fully committed to make things easier for entrepreneurs in Rio Grande do Sul, from a logistical, tax and bureaucratic point of view, by reducing costs and providing the necessary conditions for those who want to undertake to expand their investments. Thank you very much for Toyota's decision to stay here and expand its operation, and I hope this achievement will inspire the whole country”, the governor said.
In addition to extending the partnership, ensuring the maintenance of the company's operations of purchase and installation of bucket protectors in pick-up vehicles in Guaiba, the signing of the fifth addendum to the contract will incorporate another component of Rio Grande do Sul in the finalization of the assembly of Hilux pickups.
The Toyota's distribution center in Guaiba, inaugurated in 2005, is responsible for the distribution of the Japanese company's vehicles in center and southern Brazil. According to Irigaray, the government's purpose is to provide the necessary conditions for the automaker and other interested companies to expand their activities in the State. “Things have changed in Rio Grande do Sul, and now priority is given to companies already established here. At the same time, new investors will be prospected,” said the secretary.
